To keep your Invisalign aligners clean and fresh there are some essentials that you’ll need to have with you when you're on the go. Here's a short list to help you out.
A pouch
First you're going to need a pouch to keep all of your Invisalign maintenance items in.
It should be something durable that you can toss in your bag, backpack, desk or locker. Choose a pouch with a sturdy zipper as well as a lining that's water resistant (for damp toothbrushes).
Your aligner case
Your aligners need to be cleaned and stored in their case whenever they aren't in your mouth. Be sure to keep the case with you at all times so you have a safe, clean place to store your aligners while you're brushing your teeth, eating or drinking.
Lip balm
With orthodontic treatment comes dry lips, especially as you’re getting used to wearing your aligners. You'll want to keep your favourite lip balm in your kit to help keep your lips soft.
Travel toothbrush, dental floss and toothpaste
Every time you take out your aligners to eat, you need to brush and floss your teeth. You don’t want food particles and debris stuck between your aligners and your teeth for the rest of the day! Make sure you brush and floss thoroughly before putting your aligners back in your mouth.
“Outie” Aligner removal tool
Occasionally, your aligners will just be especially tight. This is most likely to happen when you first switch to a new set. The handy removal tool will help you detach your aligners from your teeth whenever this occurs.
Breath spray or mints.
You won't be able to chew gum with your Invisalign aligners in, so if you are concerned about bad breath, mints or breath spray will help you feel more confident.
