Today our Langley orthodontists explain what to expect from your Invisalign journey to a straighter smile, from start to finish.
Planning Your Trip
Your Invisalign journey begins with scheduling a consultation with your Langley orthodontist to find out if you are a good candidate for Invisalign.
Your orthodontist will complete a thorough assessment of your smile, and take impressions and digital x-rays of your teeth and jaw.
After the assessment is complete, the orthodontist will review your diagnosis, and run through appropriate orthodontic treatment options to help correct your misalignment or bite issues.
Making a Reservation
If Invisalign is right for you, your orthodontist will show you how Invisalign could transform your smile, then forward your digital impressions to the Invisalign technicians to have your custom aligners created just for you.
Hitting the Road
In about four weeks your clear custom aligners will arrive at your orthodontist's office, ready for pickup. When you visit the office to pick up your aligners your orthodontist will check that your aligners fit correctly, show you how to care for them, and answer any questions you may have about your treatment.
Invisalign process consists of wearing each set of aligners for 20-22 hours every day for approximately two weeks, then switching to the next set of aligners in your series, until treatment is complete.
You will visit your orthodontist every four to six weeks throughout your treatment in order for your orthodontist to monitor your progress and make sure that your treatment is on track.
Reaching Your Destination
By following your orthodontist's instructions and wearing your aligners as prescribed, your Invisalign journey will end with a straight new smile that you will be proud to show off.
Finally, once your Invisalign treatment is complete you may need to wear a retainer while your teeth settle into their new corrected positions.
